An Ndongeni Drive family are having to come to terms with a burglary that has left them without all the stolen items but also without their beloved family pet.

Sam Gale said the family are unsure if the burglars made off with their pet Jack Russell-cross-daschund ‘Tigger’ or if she got out when the criminals fled.

The home was set upon when burglars broke through their security gate at about 10am yesterday (Monday, 7 September). Gale’s former fiance was sanding something in the garage when he noticed a man watching him from a bedroom. The burglars were eating yoghurt as they ransacked the house, filling bags and suitcases with a range of household items including an iron, a 21st key, brass telescopic lens and laptop, among others.

“The half-finished tub of yoghurt was left behind,” said Gale. They first realised that Tigger, their dog was missing when the men fled and police responded with the K9 unit, telling the family to lock away their dogs. There two other dogs were still there.
