UPDATE: Grenade attack man kept in custody pending bail hearing

The case has been referred back to Toti police for further investigation.

A DEJECTED looking Joel Mbuso Mahoasa, who was arrested in connection with a fatal hand grenade attack on his wife, Lesego Mahoasa (33), made his first appearance in Durban Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday, 3 September).

Mahoasa hobbled into the dock, wearing  one shoe and an old hooded jacket.

“The case has been referred back to Toti police for further investigation. He remains in custody,” said Toti SAPS communications officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy.

Lesego died in hospital of injuries  sustained when a hand grenade was thrown at her in their Karridale Road, Toti home.

According to provincial police spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane, Mahoasa (44) will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Friday, 11 September, when he is expected to apply for bail.
