UPDATE: MEC urges grenade thrower to turn himself in

He extended condolences to the murdered woman's family.

KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu is shocked at the death of a Toti woman who was killed after a hand grenade was hurled at her by her husband on Sunday, 30 August.

The incident occurred at the couple’s home in Karridale Road, Shulton Park. She later died in Kingsway Hospital.
He urged law enforcement agencies to do everything possible to ensure that the man is brought to justice as soon as possible.

“I am highly disturbed by this senseless, inhumane and diabolical murder of a woman. It is indeed extremely painful to wake up to the terrible news that a woman has been murdered in such a nefarious manner. We also appeal to the suspect to hand himself over to the police and urge anyone who might have any information that might lead to his arrest to come forward,” said Mchunu.

Mchunu also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the woman.

Toti police are looking for a 30-year-old man who can assist them in the murder case.
“It is alleged that at about 1.45am, the man was at home with his wife (33) when they had an argument. He threw two hand grenades towards her and one exploded, injuring her,” said provincial police spokesman, Capt Thulani Zwane.

The Explosive Unit found both hand grenades in the house.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can contact Toti SAPS on 031-913-1308 or Crime Stop on 08600-10111.
