Don’t give to street children – I Care

Some street children are getting R500 a day begging at traffic lights and intersections.

I Care, the charity transforming the lives of street children appeals to the public not to give any street children money.

“Giving these children money enables and prolongs their stay on the streets, and in turn encourages substance abuse, which in turn can lead to crime and all sorts of unacceptable and bad behaviour,” said I Care marketing manager, Gail Elson.

“With many generous holidaymakers in our city, some of these street children are getting in excess of R500 a day begging at traffic lights and intersections.”

I Care has been successfully transforming the lives of these children for the past 13 years and appeals to the public to support them. If anyone would like to make a donation, rather to make it to I Care assisting us in our work with these children.

Its programme is holistic and covers awareness, outreach, rehabilitation, housing and shelter, education and skills and job creation.
