THERE was great anticipation and much excitement among a large crowd of onlookers and charities as they watched a 13-ton truck-load of groceries arrive at Jabulani senior citizens residence in Sutton Lane, Warner Beach on Tuesday, 23 June.

The truck was loaded with a large donation of food products for the community.
The donation and delivery was co-ordinated and arranged by Errol and Sharon-Ann Theron who worked closely with the Kingsburgh Welfare Organisation for the Aged (KWOFTA), administrators of Jabulani.

“We knew there would be more than enough to go around for everyone, which was an ideal opportunity for Jabulani to give something back to the community. Invitations were sent out to old age and children’s homes, Amanzimtoti and Kingsburgh Lions Clubs, Amanzimtoti and Kingsburgh Child Welfare, Mother of Peace, Amanzimtoti Cares, local churches and other charity groups to share in the bounty,” said Sharon-Ann.

“We are overwhelmed by this wonderful donation and respect the donor’s wishes to remain anonymous. We thank them for opening up their hearts to our community.”

The Therons also thanked ARI Tech via the Durban South Business Forum and ward 97 councillor Andre Beetge for arranging a truck with an onboard crane, which drastically reduced the pallet off-loading time by at least three to four hours.
