Aid for fishing permit applications

Forum to help fishermen.

LOCAL fishermen are invited to get assistance from the KZN Subsistence Fisher Folks (KZNSFF) in applying for permits.

Those who have not been given permits or who have not yet applied should go to the Transnet Permit Office at 44 Dr Langalibalele Dube Street (Winder Street) in Durban on Saturday or Sunday, 16 or 17 May. The first 80 applicants on each day will be assisted. Thereafter, the programme will take place every weekend.

In a statement released by the KZNSFF, they said: “We encourage all fisher folks to join together and put pressure on government to ensure that fishing as a livelihood remains at the forefront of overcoming poverty.”

Applicants must take along their IDs and a copy thereof. Registration starts at 7.30am. Permit application forms will be available.
