Toti marksman hits SA air rifle shooting target

He will represent South Africa in London in August.

TOTI marksman Ruben Kitching has been selected to represent South Africa in air rifle shooting at the British Junior International (BJI) in London in August.

On 27 and 28 March, Ruben attended the BJI trials in Roodepoort where he placed second overall in the Springer category, across all age groups and was invited to the South African National Schools Shooters Union (SANSSU) BJI competition that will be held in London.

He is part of the 21-member team that will be represent SA from 5 to 17 August. By making the team, he has achieved SANSSU colours, which is a huge achievement.

He previously attended Amanzimtoti Primary School and is a grade 9 pupil at Glenwood High School.

“I am privileged and proud to have achieved my goals. I will be shooting in the sporter division at the BJI competition in London and I am striving to obtain a medal at an international level. I thank my parents, Johan and Mariza for their ongoing support and motivation.”
