Keep sewage report reference numbers
An overflow occurred on the drift on Toti River at River Gardens.
WARD 97 councillor, Andre Beetge urges the public to report sewage overflows to 080-131-3013 and obtain a reference number so that statistics can be maintained, after yet another overflow from a manhole at the drift on the Toti River at River Gardens on Wednesday, 1 April.
“I am locked in constant battle with the municipality regarding the same matter and as such frequent the area to ensure it is not happening, but I cannot guard the spot 24/7.”
The problem results from foreign objects such as towels, blankets, clothing, plastic bags and stones entering the system, or the switch trips after load shedding or a variety of other reasons that sees the pump tripping or the motor cutting out, in turn resulting in sewage backup and it pushing out the manhole cover and into the river.”
