21 Club bops to McLeod’s music

Greg showed the subtle difference between the six-string nylon box guitar and the six-string steel guitar.

THE 21 Club’s month of love luncheon themed ‘heartstrings’ turned out to be quite a party.

Greg McLeod, who entertained last year with his drumming skills at the ‘heartbeat’ luncheon, extended the musical insight of the members with some interesting information about guitars.

Greg showed the subtle difference between the six-string nylon box guitar and the six-string steel guitar. The electric guitar, however, was not so subtle.

He demonstrated how easy it was to change key by using a capo on the guitars and mentioned how a variety of sounds could be produced by using the effects pedals on an electric guitar. Then the elegantly decorated tables with traditional red roses and hearts took a back seat to the Lords and Legends dance floor. Greg entertained and the members showed their appreciation in the best way possible. They danced.

New member, Lyn Woolcott was officially welcomed and members who have not been well were wished a speedy recovery.

The next luncheon will be held on Wednesday, 25 March at Lords and Legends conference room at noon for 12.30pm. The colour theme is green to honour St Patrick. The guest speaker is Johan van Bargen, East Coast Radio’s terrific ‘Traffic Guy’.

Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not and names of guests must be received by Lyn on 082-572-1328 or 031-903-4026 or Gwyn on 072-223-3009 or 031-903-3126 no later than Friday, 20 March. Guests will be accommodated if there is room. This will only be confirmed after all members and those on the waiting list have replied.
