Armed robbers strike at mall

No arrests have been made.

A case of armed robbery was opened at Amanzimtoti SAPS after two women were robbed of an undisclosed amount of money at Galleria on Monday morning, 19 January.

According to Major Thulani Zwane of the KZN SAPS Media Centre, the Pep Stores employees were apparently on their way to the bank at about 9.40am when they were held at gun point by two suspects. “They took the money and fled the scene. No arrests have been made,” he said.

Rory Mulvenna was in First National Bank when he heard a woman scream and rushed out. “I saw the two men running away with a black bag. One drew his firearm as the Galleria security guards were in pursuit,” he said.

It is believed the robbers made their escape along the railway lines.
