Scholar-author’s book published

Gateway to Obsidian is about a young girl named Thalia who starts boarding school.

Isipingo Beach Intermediate School grade 7 pupil, Zahraa Moosa launched her book Gateway to Obsidian at the school on Thursday, 6 November.

Gateway to Obsidian is about a young girl named Thalia who starts boarding school, only to have her and her friends taken to a world they know nothing of.

They are captured by an evil sorcerer who wants to overthrow the queen Isis and her brother Horos. Half of them escape, with two of them vanished and one left behind.

Will the girl be able to save her friend, get rid of the warlock and get out?

“I have always liked writing and since being with my friends and classmates is never boring, I take my ideas and inspiration from all the mischief we get up to, as well as random things that happen to us daily,” said the 13-year-old Isipingo Beach resident.

“It took me about seven months to write. I plan to write more books, however, it will not have anything to do with the book I have just published.”

Gateway to Obsidian is published by Umsinsi Press and it can be ordered from Isipingo Beach Intermediate School on 031-902-2819.
