Two EFC Africa wins for Toti fighters

This was a phenomenal event, with a crowd of about 5,000 people.

Combatcoaching.com mixed martial arts fighters (MMA), Craig ‘Nemo’ Ninow and Sizwe Mnikathi flew the Toti flag high when they won their fights at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) Africa 33 event at the Durban ICC on 30 August.

“This was a phenomenal event, with a great crowd of about 5,000 people. Durban certainly showing an amazing support for its MMA fighters. I’m extremely proud of the double win that Craig and Sizwe were able to attain on this momentous occasion, in front of their home crowd,” said coach of Team MMA, Morne Swanepoel.

“I’m very happy with my win and my performance. It was a really tough fight, a three-round war,” said Nemo.

“It’s good to be back on a winning streak again. Unfortunately I broke my thumb during the fight, so I will only be back in action in December.”

Nemo’s goal is to lift the EFC Africa bantamweight belt. He believes that with a few more solid performances, he will get a title shot next year.

He maintains that dedication, hard work, discipline and a positive mindset are what you need to be successful in the sport.

“Without my coach, with all his knowledge and experience, I wouldn’t be anywhere. He is a role model and an inspiration. A big thank you to Morne and my team for always being there for me, and friends, family, and sponsors for backing me every fight.”

Sizwe was understandably chuffed with his win – made all the more sweet in front of his home crowd and his mother, who made the trip to watch him in action.

“No fight is ever easy. I knew my opponent didn’t have a strong ground game and, with Morne, we worked on a game plan to take him to the ground,” he said.

“I attribute my success to the strong support system I received from my teammates, who helped me push and give more than I thought I could during training camp, and my coach who believes in me.

I am amped for any fight EFC Africa brings me and I would love to win the featherweight title belt.”
