Mambas blaze a trail at Rocky Bay

As usual, Rocky Bay trails have all sorts of thrills up its sleeve.

THE first Saturday ride of spring lived up to its name.

A very orange sunrise greeted the bunch of Amanzimtoti Cycle Club Mambas who met up for their ride at Rocky Bay.

No-one was in much mood to go belting off and thanks to Darryl Brokensha’s secret ‘get fit the hard way’ babalaas, the groups stuck together through most of the course. As usual, Rocky Bay trails has all sorts of thrills up its sleeve. A few riders had a delicious breakfast at the Casa Ballena restaurant. On that note, be on the lookout for the Friday evening time trial being held there. They are going to adjust times as the sun sets later.

Next weekend is the Hill2hill, the big one for club points. Hopefully there will be a large turn-out in orange for this event. Go on everyone, the 100km challenge or the 45km will do just fine as well.

Check out the club’s website. Barry Walker has been updating it and there are entertaining photos on board. If you have any to post, send them onto www.amanzimtoticycle.co.za

Go down to the track at Lords on Thursday evenings to ride with other riders. It is good fun and provides some great places to practise technical skills. Thanks Barry for extending and maintaining this great track for everyone. It is free to ride on the track and anyone can use it.

The track at Lords has been booked out to the SPCA on Sunday, 28 September. The SPCA will holding an event in which they are asking people to go on down and walk their dogs. In the event of an emergency on the Lords track, the number to contact is 083-393-5066.
