A FEW Toti Cycling Club mountain bikers did a really good training weekend up at Virginia farm.

Saturday’s ride consisted of a 14km loop in which the riders had to fit as many laps as they could manage in three hours.

It was a very good workout as the course was fast, with a few small climbs and a bit of fun track, which allowed for constant pedalling. The riders were cheered on every 7kms by the supporters at the halfway mark. Although it was a little wet out, the riders attacked the challenge with enthusiasm. There were three vouchers won, sponsored by Wendy and Bundy Shaw from Shawswood self-catering cottages in Karkloof. They were each worth R560 for a two night stay.

Sunday’s ride, in the gorgeous sunlight also on Virginia farm, was a cool 40-odd kilometres of incredible riding. There is the Varsity College multi series event at Virginia trails this weekend. Conditions are great out on the farm, so head out to Virginia trails soon, you won’t be disappointed.

There are also great things happening at Rocky Bay. Email bushlife.adventures@gmail.com these pages if you would like to find out more

On Saturday, the club mountain bike ride will be a long one up to the waterfall in Umbumbulu and back. There will be three different groups riding this route, so if you are interested, call Caryn on 082-357-5287 or look on the media sites for details. It will be about 60kms-plus.

Barry Walker has added another 200m to the Lords track, which needs to be ridden flat. The course now measures 3.1kms. Note that there will be no riding allowed on Saturday, as there is a cross-country event being held at Lords.

Remember that all road rides leave Engen garage in Rockview Road at 5am from Tuesdays to Fridays and 6am on the weekends. The route is decided each morning and varies according to who is riding and their ability.
