Trapped motorist freed from car in Twini Hill N2 crash
A motorist was seriously injured after his bakkie overturned on the N2 South on Umbogintwini Hill near the Athlone Park off ramp this afternoon.
Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit found the driver still trapped in the vehicle. The rescue officer had to smash the window and clambered into the wreckage to free the driver, who was trapped by his seat belt. The patient was stabilised and transported to a local hospital.
Paramedics and tow truckers had to unload bags of plastic onto another bakkie to allow the towing services to pull the vehicle back onto its wheels before they could tow it out of the way and clear the freeway for the free flow of traffic to resume.
