Toti police secures convictions

A number of criminals face time behind bars.

AMANZIMTOTI police secured a number of successful convictions for various cases in May.

The convictions are for:

Robbery:

Siyanda Bhengu (25), 15 years’ imprisonment; Antony Shabalala (30), 10 years; Cebo Mbambo (22), one year; Mabutho Mkhize (35) one year; Luyanda Gumede (20), three years; Siyabonga Mkhize (24), two years and Mmeli Khuzwayo (24), five years’ imprisonment of which three years was suspended for five years. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Shoplifting:

Khanyisile Ndlovu (49) received three years’ imprisonment.

Housebreaking and theft:

Nkosinathi Mhkize (23), three years’ imprisonment; Sphamandla Mchunu (23), two years; Siphiwe Ngubo (26), three years imprisonment suspended for five years; Simon Chiliza (50), two years; Sandile Bhengu (21), two years; Andile Mnguni (25), two years; Andile Mnguni (25), three years; Victor Reynhardt (39), three years’ imprisonment suspended for five years; Cicelo Duma (25), three years; Sphiwe Kweyama (21); three years suspended for five years, Brian Khulekani Mkhize (32), three years; Ayanda Zakhele Duma Nyawose (20), three years suspended for five years; Cyprian Ndlovu (22), two years; Sphamandla Mchunu (23), two years; Bulekani Ndovela (22), 18 months; Bongumusa Mvune (23), two years; Mthunzi Gambushe (28), 18 months.

Theft general:

Siven Muller (23), two years’ imprisonment suspended for five years; Xolani Nene (18), two years suspended for five years; Xolani Maphumulo (32), two years; Maxwell Nzuza (20), two years.

Theft out of motor vehicle:

Siyabonga Duma (37), two years’ imprisonment suspended for five years.

Theft of motorbike: Thobani Hlophe (23), three years’ imprisonment suspended for five years.

Fraud:

Stacey-Lee Gibbs (19), was fined R10,000 or 18 months’ imprisonment for 14 counts of fraud.

Possession of firearm without a licence:

Thembuyise Shandu (60), six years’ imprisonment suspended for eight years.

Attempted murder:

Jabulani Hadebe (42), five years’ imprisonment.
