Ringball players get call-up for KZN
Teams will play about 800 matches during the six-day tournament.
Four Toti Ringball Club players were selected to represent KZN at a national senior tournament.
Susan Hearn, Barbie Kotze, Anton van der Walt and Vickey Hanekom will compete at the 2014 Ringball SA Championships in Nelspruit from 13 to 19 July.
About 180 teams, comprising of 2,200 players and officials, will play about 800 matches during the six-day tournament.
“I’m excited and nervous about playing in the tournament,” said Susan. “It will be hard, as we play one or two games every day. It will be quite an experience and we will learn a lot.”
Susan and Barbie compete for the women’s veterans team, while Anton is in the senior men team and 15-year-old Vickey, a pupil at Kuswag Skool, is in the girls U15 team.
Each player has to raise R1,500 for accommodation, R1,000 for kit and R2,000 for travelling expenses.
