CCPO swoops on stolen goods

Entombeni Drive home burgled.

Diligent work from the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CPO) reunited a homeowner with his stolen goods on Wednesday, 16 April.

According to operations manager, Leon Joone, the CCPO and Blue Security were called to assist a resident in Kenilworth in the afternoon, after suspects were seen on a property.

“When our members arrived, the criminals were nowhere to be seen,” said Leon. “The members started patrolling the area to see if they could locate them.”

In what was a complete fluke, they came across a man carrying a plasma TV and DVD player, who fled when he saw the CCPO and Blue Security members. The man abandoned the stolen goods as he escaped across Old Main Road into a neighbouring township.

“Nobody knew where the stolen goods were from, so it was taken to Toti SAPS, to be handed in,” said Leon. “Only later it was established that a house in Entombeni Drive had been burglarised and the property stolen earlier.”
