Kamalinee Primary School bade farewell to passionate teacher, Navie Ponnan, who retired after serving the education fraternity for the past 34 years.
“Mrs Ponnan taught at Kamalinee Primary School for the past 30 years and had been instrumental in shaping the vision of our institution,” said school principal, Jagatheesan Naidoo.
“Hundreds of pupils have passed through her educational care. She will also be remembered for her excellent pastoral care for the disadvantaged.”
Navie was instrumental in the formation of the Kamalinee Women’s Committee, which caters for underprivileged Lotus Park pupils and their parents.
Navie or Mam, as she is fondly known, has been the recipient of many awards and accolades. She recently won the Ammen Awards, Mercury LeadSA award and Stars in Education Award.
“On behalf of the staff of Kamalinee Primary School, we would like to wish Mam everything of the best on her retirement,” said Jagatheesan.
