Foot patrol thwarts Warners burglars

Home owners not even aware they had been robbed.

Two housebreakers were arrested by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) in the early hours of Saturday morning, 8 March.

According to operations manager, Leon Joone, a CCPO foot patrol guard noticed three men running across the road in Warner Beach at about 1.30am and reported it to supervisor, Rupert Smit.

En route to the scene, Rupert noticed a man walking briskly away from that area in the vicinity of Subway Road, towards Winklespruit. He and his guard took the man back to the scene, where they found the foot patrolman had arrested one man in possession of a plasma TV behind Ellcock Road. His accomplice had fled.

The man Rupert had detained was positively linked to the incident and he showed the CCPO where the housebreaking had occurred in Hawthorne Road.

“The home owners, who were not even aware they had been robbed, were awoken,” said Leon. “The CCPO thanks the other security vehicles that responded to the incident to assist.”
