Toti runners lace up for PDAC race

The club will be supporting the PDAC 25km run on Sunday, 26 January and at the Sparksport 32km race on Sunday, 2 February.

SATURDAY’S 32km Amanzimtoti Athletics Club run was well supported, with 20 keen athletes on the morning.

The second lap 15km course was fairly flat with nice cool weather on the morning.

A reminder to all members to collect their 2014 KZN licenses on Wednesday from 5pm from Belinda at Lords and Legends. All athletes are reminded to register their personal information on www.asa.saclubs.co.za. Note this is not the club’s responsibility.

The club will be supporting the PDAC 25km run on Sunday, 26 January and at the Sparksport 32km race on Sunday, 2 February. The PDAC event has a 5am start from the Waterfall Shopping Centre. Call Taneal for more information on 061-069-7384.

Athletes can run with their 2013 KZN licence number until the end of January only. New 2014 licence numbers are to be displayed on the front and the back of the vest, with age tags on the front of the vest.

Training times for Toti AC juniors track and field meet at Lords at 4.45pm Mondays to Fridays. Call Riaan on 078-457-1936.

For senior strength training, meet at Lords at 5pm on Tuesdays. Call Cecil on 079-895-4323.

Time trials over 8km and 4km take place on Wednesdays at Lords at 6pm. On Saturdays there is an 11km run at 6am. For the Saturday club long run at 5am, runners must wear club vests and black shorts for visibility.

Walkers training is on Mondays and Tuesdays at 4.30pm, Wednesday at 5.30pm and Thursday at 4.30pm.

For any walkers’ information, call Cornell on 083-643-0111. Runners are to follow the rules of the road, run single file, wear reflective belts and respect other road users for your own safety.

The club appeals to all members who are purchasing new running shoes and gear to donate their old kit to the club, which will distribute these to needy members who require them.

The weekly time trial is on Wednesdays from Lords, 8km for the walkers starting at 5.30am, and runners (4km and 8km) starting at 6pm. On Saturdays there is an 11km run or walk from Lords starting at 5.30am for walkers and 6am for runners.
