Golden oldies get Games off to a vibrant start

THE Amanzimtoti Golden Oldies Games started off with a bang at Tabor Hall in Winklespruit on Tuesday, 1 October.

Seven seniors teams comprising Mooi Hawens, Tabor, Poinsettia Park, Jabulani, Ezimangweni, Ilfracombe and community are battling it out for glory until Friday, 4 October.

At the official opening, on the International day for older persons, the seniors got into the spirit of things by showing off their various team colours. They were entertained by the Poinsettia Park choir and enjoyed an exercise display co-ordinated by Margie Hattingh.

Egged on by their teammates, participants got stuck into the various games such as a duck walk and dress-up. The fun continued with a fancy dress parade, music and dance session at Lords and Legends at Hutchison Park on Wednesday, 2 October.

On Thursday, 3 October the teams will reconvene at Tabor Hall to participate in six individual games. Friday will see the closing of the event, a prizegiving ceremony, a line dancing demonstration and choir performance.
