Tree chopping gives nesting birds the axe

Every year my family and I have the privilege of watching them sit on their young and also get to know them personally.

EDITOR – Please don’t get me wrong, but are we the only ones concerned about what’s happening to the birdlife in and around Doonside?

My family and I have to just sit and watch new residents move in, and without a care, come out and cut down trees in which birds have been nesting all year round for generations. Every year my family and I have the privilege of watching them sit on their young and also get to know them personally.

This new year coming the birds will not have that same tree to come and nest where it was nested in by its parents and great-grandparents have. For two weeks now, these beautiful, peaceful birds have been traumatised and have not come to feed as they have done for years before in front of our home, even as close as coming onto our step.

It is heartbreaking to think there is nothing or no-one to put a stop to it before all is lost forever.
