Two die in weekend crashes

ER24 Durban paramedics responded to a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a taxi on the R603 in Illovo. “The only passenger in the taxi died at the scene. The drivers sustained moderate injuries and were taken to hospital,” said ER24 spokesman, Kyle van Reenen.
In a second incident, a woman believed to be in her late t30s died on the northbound lane of the N2 near Umkomaas.
“Paramedics found a light motor vehicle had rolled several times before coming to rest on the southbound carriageway. The woman, the only occupant, died as a result of extensive injuries.”
The exact cause of the incidents are unknown and the necessary authorities are investigating.
