Rhodie Golf Day a hit in Amanzimtoti [Pictures]

Through golf days and other similar events, the Rhodesia Association of South Africa raises funds to assist Rhodesian pensioners living in South Africa.

THE Rhodesia Association of South Africa (RASA) held its annual Rhodie Golf Day at the Amanzimtoti Golf Club on September 29.

RASA, incorporated in the Flame Lily Foundation, is a non-profit organisation that raises funds through donations and events like the golf day.

RASA’s chairperson, Peter Shattock, said the funds raised go towards financially assisting Rhodesian (Zimbabwean) pensioners living in South Africa – and their descendants – who have fallen on hard times.

“We had about 96 golfers supporting our cause and about 50 social members joining the post-game braai,” he said.

The winning team consisted of Marcel Chard, Calvin McGlead, Malcolm James and Kenny Raasch, who won a trophy and prizes. The event also featured raffles, an auction and various other prizes.
