BREAKING – Sappi Umkomaas plant on fire, staff evacuated [Video]

While the staff at the plant were being evacuated, a loud explosion could be heard from the plant.

THE Sappi plant in Umkomaas caught fire after 14:00 on July 17, with a huge cloud of smoke visible kilometres away.

At the time of publication, the cause of the fire had not been made public, but staff were being evacuated to safety. A loud explosion could be heard from the plant as workers were being evacuated.
