Hearts of Toti feed families in need

HEARTS of Toti are inundated with requests from families in need and desperately appeal to the community to help them so they can help others.

Hearts of Toti, a non-profit (NPO) and charitable organisation, assists community members who are going through hardships that have rendered them destitute and in need. The NPO hands out monthly food parcels to families in Amanzimtoti and surrounds, among many other initiatives.

The organisation’s co-founder, Alta Erasmus, said, “The past two months have been hard for us. We are being approached by families in need on a daily basis. In just one day, we had four people contacting us. A lot of these families have work, however, they just cannot make ends meet with their salaries. We simply cannot do this without our sponsors and community. Last month, we received one food donation from a community member. Our food cupboards are completely empty. Any donation, big or small, makes a difference.”

Today, October 4, their volunteers will hand out food parcels to 45 families in desperate need. Some of the much-needed items include non-perishable, tinned food, toiletries, baby nappies and formula, and cleaning supplies.
