Umnini Trust elects new executive committee

The committee serves for five years before its term expires.

THE Umnini Community Trust held elections on July 19 to elect a new executive committee after the tenure of the previous one came to an end.

The trust was created by Inkosi Phathisizwe Luthuli to administer projects that promote the development and upliftment of his tribe in Umgababa for an office period of five years. The elections, which took all day, were held at Karridene Hotel. The trust’s secretary, Sipho Msimango, said the trust consists of 11 members, of which five are elected to the executive committee.

“The process went very well, and we are happy to announce the new office bearers. These are the people that are going to be at the forefront of driving projects that lead to the betterment of the Luthuli tribe,” said Msimango.

The new chairperson of the trust is Busani Luthuli, and Constance Bele was announced as his deputy. Msimango was re-elected as the secretary, and Xolani Luthuli was named his deputy. Thami Msani was announced as the new treasurer.
