Cricket team secures spot in semi-finals

The semi-finals of the KH T20 Winter League will be held on the Amanzimtoti cricket fields on June 25 at 09:00 and 13:00.

THE fifth weekend of the KH T20 Winter League saw various games played on June 3 and 4, including Kasi Boys and Beasts going head-to-head for a spot in the semi-finals.

League official Yameen Godil said the league is moving along well, with five weekends’ worth of games already being played. “The two teams, based in Durban and surrounds, were fighting for a semi-final spot. The Beasts won comfortably by 63 runs,” said Godil.

The much-anticipated semi-finals will be held on the Amanzimtoti cricket fields on June 25, at 09:00 and 13:00.

Other results of the day: Hawks beat Falcons by 57 runs; Shofire Lions beat Durban High School by 110 runs; Slik X beat AK 11 by 5 wickets; Zikra Scorchers beat Super 6s by 18 runs; Jozeni XI beat Farhan Group by 8 wickets; Shofire Lions beat AK 11 by 3 wickets; Slik X beat KZN Coastal Academy by 1 wicket; Farhan Group beat AAC (Amanzimtoti Cricket Club) veterans by 5 wickets, and Assasins beat Jozeni XI by 12 runs.

A total of 20 teams in two groups are playing in the 12th edition of the league, which started on May 6.

Matches are played every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays until the conclusion of the league in July. The venues are the Amanzimtoti Cricket Grounds and Kloof High School.

The finals will be held at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on July 2.
