Junior league shows signs of improvement

Amanzimtoti hosted junior teams that play under the Durban Central Football Assosiation.

THE Hutchison Park sports grounds were a hive of activity on May 28, when Toti United Football Club (FC) hosted visiting teams that play under the Durban Central Football Association.

The visitors included Ashley Rovers FC, Durbanites FC, Bayview Sports Club, and Addington FC Soccer Academy.

Toti United FC’s club secretary, Jade Jacobs, said the games for different age groups ran like clockwork as all teams arrived on time.

“Overall, we have seen a massive improvement in our players over the past few weeks since the start of the league. Players are getting more confident, and each week, we see a few more wins. Our junior teams, the U7, U12A, and U12B, stamped their authority on the field and emerged with emphatic wins with the U12B salvaging a well-deserved draw against tough opponents. Our U13, U15, and U17 teams all bagged amazing wins,” said Jade.

Toti’s U12B match against Ashley Rovers FC was one of the matches that ended in a draw after the visitors fought hard to level up. At halftime, Toti was leading 3–1 and hoped to score a few more decisive goals in the second half to take the match out of the Rovers’ reach. That was not to be as a re-energised Rovers scored their second goal early in the second half and netted the equaliser only minutes from the final whistle.
