Known thief arrested in Amanzimtoti

The man has previous convictions for housebreaking and theft.

A WELL-KNOWN housebreaking suspect was arrested on Sunday, May 21, in Amanzimtoti for crimes committed in Scottburgh and Park Rynie. The Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti (CCPO) spokesperson, George Snodey, said the man was wanted for housebreaking in Scottburgh and theft in Park Rynie.

“The CCPO was asked by the Scottburgh SAPS Crime Intelligence Division to keep an eye out for this suspect. He was apparently seen in the Amanzimtoti area a few days ago. A couple of informers were contacted, and on Sunday morning, we got a lead as to where he was sleeping,” said Snodey.

The place was a vandalised property where the suspect was found sleeping in one of the rooms. The investigating officer was contacted and came out immediately to make an arrest. This suspect has previous convictions for housebreaking and car theft.
