Kissin Lane cable theft an explosive problem

The dog squad was called but never pitched.

EDITOR – I am a resident in Kissin Lane, Amanzimtoti.

In the last three weeks, cable theft has occurred three times, leaving residents without power for up to three days at a time.

On the second occasion the perpetrators were spotted in the bush between Umdoni Road and Kissin Lane, and alarms were activated. Blue, CCPO and ET all responded within minutes, surrounding the bush between Umdoni Road and Kissin Lane. The dog squad was called but never pitched,so the cable thieves got away once more – nothing new. Sunday night, 25 August was the cherry on the top, when cable thieves struck again. The whole electrical box in Umdoni Road blew up, leaving Umdoni Road and Kissin Lane without power. Who is going to compensate the residents for all the damage and losses this has caused. Do we all run out and buy generators now?

A Big well done to the electricits department. For working around the clock to restore power to Umdoni Road and Kissin Lane, after cable theft. Hats off to those involved.
