Protest action on Old Main Road in Isipingo

Three weeks ago, there was also a protest in the same area over the same issues.

PROTESTERS again blocked off Old Main Road in Isipingo today, March 3, by burning debris on the road.

At about 08:30, PT Alarms Tactical Units arrived on scene, with metro police and Isipingo SAPS arriving shortly after.

According to a statement by PT Alarms, protesters are disgruntled about service delivery and electricity issues.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

On February 16, officials from eThekwini Municipality’s human settlements department met with residents of the Isipingo transit camp to try to work out an understanding regarding the protests that have been taking place in the area.

On February 13, there was a group of about 150 protesters blocking the same road with burning tyres.
