The tournament prepared the players well for the rigorous upcoming season which kicks off in April and runs until the end of September.

TOTI United Junior Football Club’s action-packed 5-a-side indoor friendlies came to end recently, with the log leaders being capped the tournament winners.

The club’s chairperson, Zenzo Ncube, said the final games were played in an electric atmosphere, with all teams fighting to get their hands on the trophies and medals.

“The rain never deterred or dampened the spirit of the players and all the excited spectators witnessed some good football being displayed by the youngsters,” he said.

The top three teams were separated by three points each, with the second spot being decided by the last game where LSA (Langalibalele Sports Academy) Mambas won 4-2 against FDC (Future Development Academy) to dislodge Toti Eagles from the second spot.

Ncube said the top team, LSA Dolphins, did not have it easy as they had to fight tooth and nail against Toti Eagles in their last game, eventually emerging 5-3 winners and claiming the top spot on the log. “The off-season league winners walked away with gold medals and a trophy, with the second placed team also walking away with medals and a trophy for the player of the tournament,” he said.

Ncube added that throughout the league, Toti United performed beyond expectations and its three teams certainty gained a lot of experience, especially the girls who played among the boys.

“A lot of improvement was shown by all teams, leaving coaches and parents satisfied and asking for more friendly games to be played in the same format,” he said.
