St Winifreds Community Police Sub Forum needs patrollers

Patrolling is a way to show presence in a neighbourhood, in a way that is pro-active rather than reactive.

THE St Winifreds Community Police Sub Forum appeals to residents in the area to commit to four hours a month to patrol the area, and keep it crime free.

Those who are willing to commit their time should be able-bodied, and need not have a vehicle. Patrollers can buddy-up with each other.

The sub forum’s public relations officer, Marilize Stins said, “We feel it is important to show our presence, in that way we are being pro-active rather than reactive. Being a patroller means more than just going out and doing patrols, it means that you give a little back to your community and neighbours. Our patrollers are like family, and they all have a passion to help the community. Neighbours should be standing together, because we are stronger together.”

The area they cover include Astra Park, Illovo Glen and St Winifreds. More specifically, from Long Acres by the bridge under Caltex Warners to the low water bridge in Long Acres, all the way to R603/ Almond Corner down the R603 to the N2. The area also includes Nelson Close and Uitspan.

Contact patrollers Troy Beveridge on 073 175 1088, Stephan Nieuwenhuis on 076 680 1023 or Robert Phorie on 082 604 8787.

For more information, or to get involved in your local neighbourhood watch or community police sub forum, contact Marilize Stins on 083 291 7741 or email swcpsf@gmail.com and the respective public relations officer will be in contact.
