Bobbi Bear and Kingsburgh welfare receive large donations

The donations for these two non-profit organisations were much-needed and deeply appreciated.

TWO non-profit organisations in the area received a large donation of goods and money from a local business owner and organiser of events in The Square at the Toti CBD.

Clayton Whitaker recently handed household items, clothing and toys over to Operation Bobbi Bear and the Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare. The donation was given on behalf of community members who donated items in the designated boxes placed in The Square during events in December.

On top of that, he gave Bobbi Bear R20 000 for fuel and food, and the welfare R10 000 for food and bills as well as a promise to repaint the charity shop, among other tasks, to uplift the organisation.

Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare’s Sandra Govender receives a donation from business owner Clayton Whitaker.

Whitaker said these are two of the most deserving organisations in the area, who are always there to assist the community. He added that the more community support and/or business sponsorship the markets and events receive, the more he and his team can help these non-profits as well as uplift the town as a whole.

Bobbi Bear director Eureka Olivier said she simply cannot thank him enough for the love and support he has for the children. She added that with so many little mouths to feed daily, food is always needed.

“Financial assistance is so appreciated because, like any home, we have to pay utilities on top of emergency costs, such as rape bags for our little victims. Thank you to our community for always remembering us, especially in times of crises,” Olivier said.

Kingsburgh welfare’s Sandra Govender and chairperson Jenny Smith said they are all about family preservation, so donations such as these help them provide services and food to vulnerable families as well as assist with the everyday running of their office.

With some sponsors coming on board, Whitaker has big plans for The Square. Keep an eye out for the South Coast Sun or follow our Facebook page for upcoming events.
