Seeds of hope lead to good harvest

The children at Seed of Hope, along with the farming team, harvested fresh produce to take home to their families.

THE Seed of Hope farming team recently harvested fresh produce from their garden that the learners had planted and maintained using the Farming God’s Way methods.

Seed of Hope Community Development Centre is an organisation that focuses on child and youth development, skills and sustainability, and community care services.

The children in their Simunye After-School Programme, under the guidance of the farming team, planted beetroot, kale, lettuce, spinach and onions.

“After weeks of maintaining their garden, they are finally harvesting and selling to staff and community members. They have also taken some of the produce to their homes so their families may see what they have been able to produce,” said Seed of Hope CEO Londiwe Myeza.

Farming God’s Way is a tool or resource that is easy for any individual, organisation, church group, missional group and so forth, to be able to ‘pick up’ and use in their existing area of influence.

“We work worldwide, with our main focus being subsistence farmers who plant agronomic crops in order to feed their families. If they do not get a harvest, they do not have food to eat. In South Africa, there is a much higher demand for good vegetable production in communities, so most of our training focuses on that,” said Farming God’s Way’s Nikki Dryden.
