Warnadoone Nippers kick off new season

Nippers is a junior programme that introduces children aged six to 14 to surf lifesaving.

WARNADOONE Surf Lifesaving Club will be hosting its annual Nippers open day on Sunday, August 14 from 08:00.

Nippers is for children aged from six to 14 years old, to help them learn about the sea and how to run, swim and compete in a safe environment. The focus is also put on fun, surf awareness and safety at the beach.

“It ultimately aims for the children to become lifeguards if that’s what they foresee. It’s to learn about navigating in the sea and how to look for dangers and assess situations to ensure that they and others are safe in the sea,” said Nipper officer Justin Fourie.

Nippers also offers children the opportunity to make friends, get fit, stay active, help others and achieve success.

The open day allows members of the public to come to have a look at what they do, how the children interact and how they undertake activities that the children will compete in.
