Ward 97 councillor updates on water and electricity outage

Subsequent to there being a break in the electricity supply feeding the Kingsburgh area, it has affected water supply off the Almond road reservoir.

WARD 97 councillor, André Beetge, updates the community on the electricity and water outage to certain areas of Kingsburgh.
There are three cable faults in the Kingsburgh area, which in turn affects 20 sub stations. These faults are affecting St Gabriel into Longacres Drive, Almond Road into North Way Street and Impala into Winifred Drive.
Teams are working on the identification and rectification of cables that have effectively been in the ground for 40 years and which as such, are prone to cable fatigue and various other compromising problems.
Subsequent to there being a break in the electricity supply feeding the area, it has affected water supply off the Almond Road reservoir.
“The two problems go hand-in-hand, the one as a result of the other. It is not possible to supply any timeframe as electricity is not like a burst water pipe where you can physically see the problem.
“Let’s all just calm down and exercise some patience while the problems are addressed,” said Beetge.
