Toti resident questions road resurfacing

It is alleged that municipal workers failed to produce a job card for the work they were undertaking.

AN AMANZIMTOTI resident was left perplexed after witnessing eThekwini Municipality employees dig up a section of his street on Sunday, January 23 to resurface it despite it having no potholes or any visible damage. Riaan Forbes lives on Cato Crescent and believes this was a waste of taxpayers’ money.

“This is not acceptable. Digging up our street that did not even have one pothole is nothing but fraud. They are creating work and overtime on a Sunday while there are places that have roads in real need of repairs,” said Forbes.

He said he approached the workers and asked to see the job card for the work they were undertaking but they allegedly refused to show him one. An email was sent to eThekwini Municipality regarding the roadworks but a response had not been received at the time of publication.
