THE Netcare Kingsway Hospital in Athlone Park, has warned the public about a fake advert for employment at the facility that has been shared on various social media platforms recently.

Sometimes those seeking employment receive an email or a message on their cellphone inviting them for an interview without having made an application. In a recent statement, the hospital said such false adverts claiming to offer either training or employment have been appearing on an ongoing basis.

“These adverts may appear very legitimate. The latest one appears to set up interviews for candidates at Netcare Kingsway Hospital, but then asks for them for application fees,” read the statement.

The following red flags may point to the fact that the training opportunity or job advert is a scam:

  • The application form asks for your banking details.
  • Only a cellphone number is supplied for inquiries, sometimes claiming that the landline is “out of order”.
  • A dream job or training is promised without the need for you to be interviewed.
  • Payment may well be requested from you upfront for so-called administration purposes, accommodation or uniforms.
  • Interviews are conducted somewhere other than Netcare’s head office or a Netcare facility.
  • The payment mechanism is suggested as being facilitated via a cellphone number at a money market facility, such as a supermarket. The Netcare Human Resources Shared Services Centre can be called on 086 022 5547 to verify the legitimacy of any training opportunity or job offer.
