2 April 1971

TOTI boy, 10-year-old Stuart Green, has been accepted for the Drakensberg Boy’s Choir following an audition in Durban. He will join the choir next term in their farm near Cathkin Peak.

Stuart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Green of 9 Hartley Place, is a Standard 4 learner at Amanzimtoti Primary School. He was a member of the Durban Boys Choir.

As a member of the Drakensberg choir he will have to do his normal schoolwork, plus two hours of singing and an hour of piano lessons each day. In addition the boys do chores about the farm for which they are paid.

They also learn riding and can keep and care for their own horses. In June, Stuart will go on tour with the choir to Lourenco Marques and Cape Town among other places.

And next year he might be among the party of boys who are going to go on a singing tour overseas. Nearly 200 boys attend this unique school in the Drakensberg.

They are carefully selected, for they must have a high standard of intelligence as well as an exceptional voice.
