Copper thieves strike again in Doonside
The neighbourhood watch in the area is believed to have caught the suspects.
SAPS are yet to confirm the arrest of the men who were caught breaking into the Doonside power station, to allegedly steal copper cables, on Thursday, November 4.

An alert resident saw someone forcing they way into the power station that is located at the intersection of Queens Terrace and Leslie Way. The suspects were reported to have been apprehended by community patrollers. The men were then handed over to the police that same evening.
Amanzimtoti SAPS spokesperson, Captain Charlene van der Spuy, could not immediately confirm the arrest. She did, however, say she saw details of the incident on social media.

A week ago, the same power station was extensively damaged after vandals stripped it of copper cables. The resulting power outage left areas between Doonside, Illovo and Umbumbulu without power for three days.
