Race against ‘crime’ – crime fighters recover stolen vehicle

“The vehicle was travelling at high speed and disappeared down Kynoch Road."

A STOLEN vehicle was recovered in Athlone Park after driving recklessly on Tuesday, October 12.  CCPO supervisor, Logan Naidoo, reported a Ford Ranger driving very recklessly along Dickens Road in Athlone Park.

“The vehicle was travelling at high speed and disappeared down Kynoch Road. Other ground units were deployed. Our ET Tactical Response Team (TRT) was in the area and went to well-known spots looking for the possibly stolen vehicle,” said managing member of ET South Coast, Tony Lokker.

Along Old Main Road, a vehicle fitting the description drove past them and the TRT turned around in pursuit.

“At the same time, a report came in of a Ford Ranger stolen in the Bluff. The vehicle’s Tracker Connect unit was activated. Our TRT located the vehicle within minutes – which turned out to be the same one Logan reported. The vehicle was found abandoned and was handed over to the Metro Police K9 who also came to assist.”
