Milestone celebration for Wanderers Haven

In honour of the milestone celebration, a walk of faith will take place from the small Spar to the caravan park in Winklespruit and will distribute food to the community.

FOR two years, Wanderers Haven has been serving the community.  The organisation has celebrated its second birthday and will give back to those in need on Saturday, October 23 at 11:30.

“It is better to give than to receive,” said co-founder of the organisation, Sharon Swanepoel, who together with her husband, Johnny, has been walking a path with families and individuals.

In honour of the milestone celebration, a walk of faith will take place from the small Spar to the caravan park in Winklespruit and will distribute food to the community.

“Everyone is welcome to come to join us and get a hot meal. It is not about always taking but about giving. We will also of course have birthday cake. We only ask for sponsors of food. Bring a pot of cooked meals and we will be more than happy. We are giving back to anyone in the community who wants a hot meal and not just the homeless.”

The organisation provides meals to the homeless on Tuesdays and Fridays weekly, offers counselling and lends a helping hand.

“This is purely to celebrate the organisation and the community.”

The organisation also runs a charity shop to generate funds and appeals to the community to donate any items that they no longer require. Donations of peanut butter, jam, cereal, pasta, canned goods, milk, sugar, tea and noodles will be much appreciated. Money can also be donated through the following bank details: Capitec Bank, Wanderers Haven: savings account, account number: 1468687415.
