Level three regulations explained for Amanzimtoti residents

The country moved to lockdown level three regulations on Sunday, July 25.  Ward 97 councillor, André Beetge, explained what the regulations mean for the (masked) man on the street?

“For starters, curfew is now between the hours of 22:00 to 04:00 as opposed to the previous 21:00 to 04:00. The prohibition of alcohol has been relaxed and bottle stores can now sell for off-site use between the hours of 10:00 to 18:00 but only from Monday to Thursday, with no sales allowed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or any public holiday.”

Restaurants can open for sit down dining and alcohol can be served for on-site consumption.

“This will only be until 20:00 allowing patrons to finish as restaurants have to be closed by 21:00 to allow staff and patrons to get home by 22:00. The same would apply to bars, pubs and taverns albeit only to the extent of accommodating not more than 50% of its permitted capacity at any given time and night clubs remain closed.”

Interprovincial travelling is now allowed that includes trips for leisure purposes to Gauteng

“All gatherings, whether political, religious, funeral or cremation is restricted to a maximum of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. Funerals may not last longer than two hours and no after tears or functions are permitted.”

All establishments that include cinemas, theatres, casinos, museums, galleries, pools, beaches, public areas, game parks, botanical gardens, aquariums, zoos, gyms, fitness centres, auctions, sport, faith-based, social, political or cultural must be closed by 21:00.

“No spectators allowed at sporting events. All persons 35 and above are eligible for vaccination and can now register online. The wearing of masks in public remains mandatory.”

The Social Relief of Distress Grant will be reinstated until March 2022 and extended to include unemployed caregivers. The employment tax incentive will be extended to include all who earn R6500 or less and the Pay-As-You-Earn and excise taxes will be deferred for three months.
