Amanzimtoti Racing Pigeon Club scores first and second place

Fry’s bird, Toti 3219/19 was last years champion yearling and went on to prove he can do it two years in a row.

Amanzimtoti Racing Pigeon Club (ARPC) competed in the third race of the season on Saturday, 12 June.

The race was flown over 400 or so kilometres in good weather.

Doug Fry kept his flag, as well as that of Toti club, flying high by not only winning but took overall first position in the Durban Federation together with the federation pools.

Fry’s bird, Toti 3219/19 was last years champion yearling and went on to prove he can do it two years in a row. He was overjoyed when his bird arrived home at 12:40pm on its 400km flight after being liberated at 08:00 in Bethal. “He didn’t even look like he had flown around the block. These birds are amazing,” he said.

True to form Danny Bradshaw was close behind in second and third position and took fourth prize in the federation pools.

Basil Tait had a good fly with fourth position and eight other positions and Hendrik Havenga placed 12th out of the 20 positions.

ARPC competed in the fourth race of the season on Saturday, 19 June.

The birds were liberated in good weather from Middelburg at 07:30 with the winning bird arriving in Umkomaas at 13:03 with a velocity of 1496 m/min (90km/hr).

Basil Tait from Umkomaas, took the honours in Toti club as well as winning the federation. Doug Fry was second in the club and federation with Hendrik Havenga a close third.

Tait had excellent racing scoring 12 positions in the club’s top 20.
