Suspects nabbed following attempt to disarm officer

The suspects were apprehended and handed over to the authorities to be charged.

A gang of men who tried to overpower and disarm a response officer were apprehended on Saturday, 29 May.

“There was a flurry of activity when a team of crime fighters cornered and subdued a gang of men who tried to overpower a response officer from a local security company in an attempt to disarm him. An armed response member was attending to an incident at the garage opposite Galleria Mall, when a group of men behaving in an unruly manner, tried to overpower the officer in an alleged attempt to disarm him,” said spokesperson of PT Alarms, Trishen Govender.

Back-up was requested by the member under threat and fellow security personnel responded in their numbers.

“The suspects were occupants of a white Quantum and the vehicle was intercepted by various security personnel and PT Alarms Tactical Unit officers.”

The suspects were apprehended and handed over to the authorities to be charged.

“Well done to all respondents. Teamwork yielded positive results.”
