Amanzimtoti Watersports Club’s juniors perform exceptionally

Amanzimtoti Watersports Club in conjunction with Warnerdoone Surf Lifesaving club, are in preparation to host the Winter Ski Series finale race, the annual Scottburgh to Brighton Sea and Sand Marathon.

Months of hard work and dedication have paid of for Amanzimtoti Watersports Club’s juniors who obtained exceptional results in the South African School’s Sprint and KZN Marathon Championships.

All the athletes put on a stellar performance, and displayed great sportsmanship in racing. The results were rounded off with squad member Lungelo Shange being chosen to represent South Africa at the 2021 Olympic Hopes Regatta, in Racice, Czech Republic, from the 10 to 12 September 2021. This brings to a close the South African flat water season of racing, and the start of the downwind ski season,” said the club’s Dean Chiazzari.

South African Schools Sprint Championships:

U10 Isabelle Van Heerden: 3rd 200m, 500m, 1000m and 2000m respectively.

U10 Zack Papadopolous: 3rd 2000m, 1st 1000m, 500m, 200m.

U12 Josh Worthmann: 3rd 200m, 500m, 1000m respectively.

U16 Lungelo Shange: 2nd 1000m K1, 1000m K2,5000m K2, 500mK2, 200m K2 respectively.
