A candle light ceremony was also held.

“Flyers were handed out to patients visiting the clinic as well as sandwiches, fruit and chips. Baby clothes were also handed out to mothers,” said chairperson of Athlone Park CPF, Marlene Matthew. “Each organisation gave a short talk and we all read the pledge and lit candles in memory of those who lost their lives to HIV/ Aids. GBV directly affects the spread and transfer of HIV. Victims of violence can suffer sexual and reproductive health consequences, including forced and unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and even death. A woman who discloses her HIV-positive status to a partner of unknown HIV status is more likely to experience physical and emotional abuse.”
